Kaori, You'll be Missed

You've taught me alot. Your lessons were invaluable.

Knowing you has been a privilege.

Your 'wild' ways, your demeanor, your ready smile ...
You will be missed.

A lil' abt her:
Dr. Kaori Araki is originally from Japan and earned a Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2004. Currently, I am an assistant professor at the Nanyang Technological University, National Institute of Education in Singapore. I also enjoy opportunities talking about psychological skills training at local schools. My experiences with the Singapore Sailing Federation as a consultant are great and I am excited to go to the Olympics with the sailors!

My advisers Dr. Diane Gill and Dr. Dan Gould prepared me well to be an independent researcher and consultant. Involvement in numerous research projects prepared me to plan and carry on projects efficiently by corroborating with federations, colleagues, and students. Hands on practices for consultations (including how to start consulting at the new places) have also helped me to work with elite and school level athletes in Singapore and Japan.

It is challenging to find a job and start a new job! It is been 18 months since I moved to Singapore to take the current position. I face obstacles on a daily basis and need to think how to cope with them. However, I always remember the strengths, knowledge, experiences I gained through the Ph.D. program. Without the supports from my advisers and UNCG gangs, I would not be here. Even though I am far away from the U.S., I always remember what they have given to me. I would like continue to live my life through sport and exercise psychology. Arigatou.

Hoping that you'll revisit someday.

Absolut-ly Disco

Still trying to come to terms with the psychological trauma of Me being ROBBED. And how I feel insulted, slighted and violated, not to mention how some of my friends who've been dragged into the whole fiasco.

A BIG THANK Q too all my beloved pple ( J, DaRone, Lewd, LnDa, Fish, Joyce and even Yol herself etc.) who've given me words of encouragement.

All that negativity aside, I'm still trying to savour the best moments of ZoukOut 2007. B'cos I'd want to remember the good times
(and to learn from mistakes).

There was the thumping music of Amin, the hot bods, the posers, the skanks, the whores, the SPGS et al. Then there was the camaraderie. With so much skin to show, mingling is often easy...

Overall, this year, there were more activities lined, better service, better crowd control, and of cos, way more crowds.

And then there was Absolut Disco-Vodka. :-)

Perhaps this, downing a few more mixes , Vodka-mixes I mean, not DJ Mixes although it helps, will perhaps lessen the Pain.

I guess the Pain is due both to the scale of the inccident and the fact that it bitterly closed what could have been a Highlight party-moment for me and my friends for 2007.

Now, after the Disco, and back into the real world, there's still the Mess to b cleared... :0/

Robbed and Violated

Model Adrianne Curry was robbed .
Model Adrian Qyn was robbed, too.

ZoukOut 2007 was lotsa fun. I made quite a fashion statement too apparently.

But that's not the thing I'd remember for this year's Party.

1) I've never been more exhausted. My legs are about break and I've got terrbible abrasions due to the wet sand.

2) But what will 4eva etch in my mind is that My CAR GOT ROBBED.

In terms of valuables, me , Yol and Mich lost over a thousand dollars worth of personal items and more expensive stuff. Not to mention drinks.

But it's not the material loss that is painful.

It's the hassle it brings and the psychological trauma that is , my car ,
a personal space, was broken into and violated.

So painful . It more than hurts or stings. My chest simply felt no heart beat at that point when I exclaimed :
" I think we were robbed."
