Because you can???

Have you ever wondered really hard ... just "How do they do it?" when you scan through someone's resume?

The awe-inspiring achievements and body of work; the glossy details;the kind of stuff that you can only dream to call your own.

Then you ask these individuals just how they do it; is it an interest / passion mixed with a good blend of enthusiasism and drive? Or is it pure luck?

I think I am in a good position to see exactly which individuals fall into which category (1) the "Because I want it" and the (2) " Because I can " .

I've been quite the good every-teacher's dream student when I was growing up , good conduct (actually, only if you don't count the numerous afternoons spent outside the discipline master's room because I was late for school , again, or my hair was too long, wearing colored socks etc.). But hey,this proves that I was no nerd ,was good at sports AND still got the straight A's.
Okay? ;-)

Back to my point, so suffice to say, my academic resume is almost impeccable. (And I basically grew up thinking getting A's all the damn time was a common occurance on any body's plate. 'Cos, I now realise how screwed up so many people are out there when it comes to hitting the books)

Now, being in university, my A's are still coming actually, but because I am also modelling , it brings to me an awareness of a whole new type of resume that other's have.

The type that sends the "wooos..." and the 'ahhhs" . Yeash, I am talking about the famed Model's portfolio.

You see the bodies , and especially, the faces, that you can only stare in sweet-horror , never mind the admiration. The kind of faces you could never have; forgeting that modelling is all about being unique.

And then you start to wonder, unlike academic/other -job achievements that can be gotten with hard work and drive (of course , arguably you're more likely to be better off if you had brains gotten off the right side of a chimpanzee) , modelling is all about THE FACE.
(And similarly, you better not have the face of a Chimp, either. )

A great body can be gotten by drive; the exercise, the pills and diet.

A face, can never be duplicated or replicated . Not even wth surgery. (Because a starting out model is poor as can be ?)

So , if you are a model, even with drive, it really cannot bring you really far if you don't have THE FACE.

So , here begs the enduring question : You're doing well in the industry
" Because you can?"


Shivers. Life was never fair was it. :-P
